Zürich: One of the business-friendliest cities in
Europe
Zürich receives high marks in fDi magazine’s
current Cities and Regions of the Future ranking. The city comes
out seventh in comparison with other western European cities. In
the category of «small cities»* Zürich is even listed as
runner-up. Among the 223 evaluated European cities Zürich ranks
22nd.
When it comes to economic potential in the category of «small
cities», Zürich performed well and is ranked a close second
behind Edinburgh (UK). Furthermore, Zürich boasts the highest
quality of life; life apparently is only better in Graz (A),
according to the ranking. Moreover, Zürich is known as
business-friendly and supportive to corporations and
entrepreneurs. With that, the city holds third rank in the
categories «business-friendliness» and «infrastructure».
Not only the city but also the business location Greater Zurich
Area performed very well in the fDi survey. When it comes to FDI
strategy, the Greater Zurich Area is ranked seventh when
compared to other western European business regions.
The fDi ranking European Cities & Regions of the Future is
brought about every two years by experts of fDi magazine. For
the current ranking 223 European cities and 142 regions were
analyzed regarding different criteria such as quality of life,
infrastructure and economic potential. Regions are classified
according to size of geographical area and population.
